    First week in.......I am hooked

Well I have been shooting trad for one week today. Completely hooked. I shot a group from 20 yards today just for fun, group was not good but I hit the bag all six shots. I can learn this. I did get me a tab and I do like it more than the glove. Thanks for the warm welcome too guys.

Keep it up and you'll be hitting the bag at 25 yards in no time... Try a little game while you are shooting, start out at 5 yards. If you make the shot a good one, step back two steps. If it's a bad shot put your bow up and try again tomorrow (just kidding). When the shot is not a good one go back to the start at 5 yards and start over. Once you get out to the 20 yard mark you will have a good reason to be proud of yourself. As you well know, this little game is programming your brain to shoot a different distances. Keep up the good work and have fun!!!

The first time you draw a simple barebow and the arrow goes right where you are looking, some ancient file opens in your brain and an addiction kicks in. I like your "I can learn this!" comment- keep after it - the fun has just begun!

The fact that it is sooooooo hard is what makes the successes sooooooo rewarding!

Keep at it, and good luck!

There is just something about that keeps me going outside everyday and flinging a few arrows. I think you nailed it that something primal stirs in the soul.

Take a 6" paper plate and put a small dot in the middle of it and put that on your target. Start at 6 yards and aim at the dot. When you hit the plate move back 2 yards. When you miss move 1 yard forward. It's something that SwampRabbit told me to try and it's a great teaching aid.

Oh and welcome to the addiction!

Welcome boleman; keep at it. Fun and satisfying when you see that arrow magically cover the spot you were focused on an instant before.

That's a great description all right. It also explains some of the similar language when a shot goes awry.

Yeah I have noticed that already. I was shooting yesterday and decided to try something different. Took a small game target and would toss it over my shoulder. Then turn around and take shots at it. Missed the first two but then started nailing it. Not like my compound. If I miss I don't worry about the arrow flying into my neighbors yard.

I watched Last of the Mohicans last night, so I am pretty much right there with ya, minus actually shooting a trad. I am hoping to find me a good now soon and start. Congrats and good luck on the transition
