If I post a video of me shooting can you critique?

I'm hitting myself in the face with the string on release. Doesn't happen all the time but almost every time I get a good shot it get hit. Starting to make me "gun shy". If I post a video of it would you folks mind taking a look at it and offering advice?

Two things cause me to do that.
1st and most common for me any way is I am looking at the target with my left eye.
This causes me to turn my head to bring the arrow in line and really splaps the snot out of me.
The other is plucking the string out to the right as I release causing to to jump back to the left to get back in line with the bow.

youl can post pics or vids, on pics all we need is pic at full draw from the side and back, but video will help the most..

Open your stance. You are too perpendicular to the target and to get a good shot in you have to close the gap, bring the string closer to your face, or move your bow arm back. Next time you shoot, move your right foot (right handed shooter) 6 inches forward. See if that helps.
A video would be best though.
        Good luck

I was right. Your right foot is behind your left. Move it forward some

If you are still using the tab, it may not even be the string hitting your face. it may be the tab because it is too big.

The only thing I see in the video is that you have a very static release. That is not necessarily bad, but it does mean that your back muscles are probably not engaged enough. For where you are at in your trad journey, it would be expected. As Alex stated above it would probably be good to open your stance just a bit. To do this move your left foot a 3-4" to the left.

x3 on the stance. Open it up some.

You didn't mention where on your face you are getting slapped. For me, it is usually the nose or the mustache.... when my stance is very closed or like Buff said, if I pluck the string badly.

I get hit at the corner of my mouth and just above that near my nose. If I had the ability to grow a mustache it'd have been pulled out on one side already.

I just tried the tab for a while today, had no idea it was too big as it barely fits over my finger. To be honest I get slapped even with the glove on.

If you shoot with brass nocking points pulling a hair is likely and it frigging hurts!

Watched the video and besides noting the dead hand release... you have an intersting draw cycle. You start with the bow sideways and uncant it to vertical as you reach anchor. From a hunting perspective... you are moving alot. Like waving a flag during your draw. Good thing is you are drawing up instead of a really bad habit some people have where they sky draw. (Draw pointing way into the air and come down.) Its your style to choose, but might consider the cons with that much movement during your draw. (Also can't be good on your shoulder rotating like that with heavy weights.)

To be honest I had to go back and look at the video to see the rotation of the bow. That probably explains the shoulder pain I get once in a while.

                          Ok headed back outside.

I feel like I'm starting all over from scratch. I developed a bad habit with that closed stance and opening it up feels uncomfortable. Not painful or anything just different. I hit my face a lot less though! I did notice a blister that developed on my ring finger from the string but it only hurts or gets worse wearing the glove. I don't think I wore it out already but it has gotten thin around the little finger pad. I tried using back tension like advised and missed the target completely at 6 yards.

I've got several errands to run tomorrow but will be back at it in the afternoon. It's back to the basics for me at ranges less than 10yds. I AM going to do this and do it well.
