Well I had an appointment with a Dr yesterday to make an appointment for the MRI
He looked at my knee and said well, I'm not really a knee Dr, I'm a shoulder Dr Money racket guys! So he referred me to a knee Dr......
He pulled two big syringes of blood from my knee then sent me home to wait for a call about the MRI appointment.
Thanks for the prayers! Will update after the MRI....

That blows. I was fortunate enough to see a knee specialist the day after my accident and they have a MRI in the office. I never thought sticking a needle that big into my knee would give me so much relief...the pressure from all the blood is ridiculous. With injuries like this time is crucial.

Geez... that stinks being tossed around. This kinda brings back memories of my initial knee catastrophe. Went to the ER, got an Xray and some pain meds. They put me in a knee immobilizer and told me if it doesn't get better in a couple days, that I should go see a ortho.

Well, I was going to go see an ortho regardless. I got in a few days later and the ortho asks for the X-rays. So my wife has to go all the way over the ER to get them. A couple hours later the doc looks at the X-rays and says "so did they tell you what was wrong?" I said... no. He points to this big white thing in the Xray and says... well that is part of your bone floating in your knee!!! (stupid ER doctors... "if it doesn't get better on its own!!!? Really???)

He scheduled surgery on that visit and ordered an MRI (I was naively concerned about an ACL tear... let me tell you, having bone/cartilage come off your femur is a hell of a whole lot worse!!!!) He only wanted the MRI so he knew what else he had to do besides drill and hammer a quarter sized piece of bone back on to my femur

My MRI was scheduled for 12:30am ... yep 30 minutes after midnight. Who knew there was such a high demand for MRIs... It was a nice MRI place. Got a coffee mug with some candy in it.

Well, sorry for your injury. I would offer you a knee...but doubt it would be an upgrade. If they find an extra meniscus in there...I am missing one. Get well soon.

Good luck with surgery my friend.... I had right knee reconstructive surgery back in 1996, now it is my good knee. Make sure and don't rush things, it makes a huge difference on the outcome.

My only advice having gone through 2 of these is this: In my opinion, getting back range of motion early on is key. Every knee operation is different. Some docs let you get back to gradual weight bearing early on, some don't. When you don't use your knee is locks up. For my first surgery, range of motion became a very big deal and it is painful getting it back. The second surgery, I insisted that my doctor order me a continuous passive motion machine for use in the days immediately following surgery. Recovery between the two was night and day.

I'm 7 weeks post-op and just now getting close to full range of motion, but the last 20 degrees is forced and painful. You're right about the CPM...it will become your best friend.

They are sending me to a therapist today to start presurgery therapy. I was sent home in a new hinge brace with instructions to start working the knee.
Man is that rough! It's very stiff and only bending half way to 90% without pain...
