    Traditional FSC Week 20

Inflate your 9" balloon, and tie it off. Then with a sharpie/marker paint a 1" dot at center broadside.

Use lipstick, or similar, and paint the end of your point with it. Since all I had was red balloons, I used some black camo paste. If you have light color balloons, especially white, then red lipstick will work great.

Shot to be taken from 17.5 yards for adults, and 7.5 yards for kiddos.

After the burst (assuming a hit), find the piece of balloon that has both the dot, and the lipstick on it. Measure from the edge of the balloon piece where the paste is to the center of the dot.

    Shortest measurement wins.

Tip: There's an advantage to how you inflate the balloon. I'll let you figure it out.

    OK, OK, I know.
This is stretching it a bit.

    Get it?

Nope, that's not what I meant when I said it's stretching it a bit.

Come on, and shoot this one folks.
5/8" will be easy to beat. You'll see why once you've shot it.

I understand about the balloon surface shrinking when deflated, I was just poking a little fun at the half-yard part of the distance call.

            Here's my effort: 3"

Found that sticks on the sides helped reduce wind movement.

            Next is shot.

Piece of balloon actually stayed on arrow.

Finally, hard to see, but arrow hole is by 8" mark, with black marker bit by 5" mark. Hence, 3"

              You hit the dot.

The arrow hole you are measuring to is the exit hole on the back side of the balloon.
The black spot to the right of it at the 5" mark is what is left of the shrunken dot.

The 1" dot shrunk to 1/4" on mine. Yours looks to be about the same, so I'm guessing your measurement is probably closer to 3/16" instead of 3", but definitely a dot hit.

Just in case you're not convinced.

This overlay picture shows you hit the top of the dot.

It's like the Seinfeld when George had shrinkage - deflated the hole will be closer to the target spot I'd guess.

Okay, well I thought it should be closer than 3", going off of the arrow finish spot. Just now picked up piece on the ground and put it by other piece.

                        And there ya go.
                        Told ya.

The balloon will always rip at the point of initial piercing.
There will never be a hole there, but as in your case, you may punch a hole in a deflated piece.
