Was kind of looking for a baseball related target, since we're a little over a week into a new major league season. On April 9, 1965, the 8th Wonder of the World opened for an exhibition game between the former Colt 45's, newly-renamed as the Houston Astros and the New York Yankees. The Astrodome was the first domed stadium ever conceived on such a scale and was the brainchild of Roy Hoffheinz. Groundbreaking was done by dignitaries shooting .45 caliber revolvers into the ground. Rain-outs were no more. Fans and players could enjoy day baseball in air-conditioned comfort during the Texas summers. And you could say the idea caught on, with the new twist of retractable roof domed stadiums.
Our target: The old Astros logo, featuring baseballs zooming around a graphic of the Astrodome like a space age model of a molecule. The aim point is the center of the circle at the top of the dome roof. Standing at 13 yards (7 for kids). Play Ball! (As usual, print target on 8.5 x 11 inch paper, or trace to similar size.)
