Shipping cost is a big deal for me. 3rivers has lost money from me for it.

I would get these "did you forget to sumbit your order?" Emails from them. I would reply that paying $10 shipping for a $15 tab was not a good deal.

Clean it out good and use regular ole Wal-Mart cheap hot melt. It's flexible and works. Ask Tim Gillingham @ Goldtip...

Wow! What a wide variety of glues which work!

I can only conclude that my problem lies with my preparation.

I have 6 shafts I am commencing to make into arrows right now. I'm going to use alcohol instead of lighter fluid, and I'm going to rough up the shaft with 320 grit paper, and I'm going to try my hot melt, because it's easy and reversible, and I have it.

I don't recall where I got it, but it was either Kustom King or 3Rivers. I didn't even know Wal-mart carried it, and I'm pretty sure I've never been in a craft store, whatever that is.

Again, thanks to everyone for your help.

X 3 for the quick stick. Very rarely have I lost an insert using hot melt. Mainly only on 100+ degree days when Featherflinger pulls my arrow out of the target for me...

X?? I use Loctite Super glue, the gel stuff. So far I have had no issues, I do like the Ferule tight hot melt as well. As said above especially on my Zwickey's since they are just set onto screw adapters.

I just use the hot melt from Three Rivers, whatever that is and the Quick Stik probably works well, I guess I never tried it. I do use hot melt on all my wood arrows and very rarely have one come off.

I use JB Weld mostly because I am always needing epoxy for something around my shop and have it on hand already, its cheap, available at every hardware store in the US, works well, and I can still remove the inserts with heat without damaging the arrow.

Another bump for hot melt. Use a propane torch when applying it. Makes life much easier.

I prep my shafts with a .22 wire brush on the end of my drill.

Clean the inside with alcohol on a Q tip.

Like others I am in search of the perfect glue so I will try Bisch's suggestion.

I clean with barrel brush ,6-7mm size, q tip and acetone , the hot glue comes in low temp and high temp, low temp has failed me when I switch to high temp, it has a darker color ,never has pulled lose. I want say it never will but so far fine. Got mine at HF for like $5 for 20 sticks.

PS I also keep a bottle of water close and dip the arrow in it after to cool down quick. Seams to make it set better.
