I am going to be putting both my recurves on the classifieds and then on ebay. I just cant keep making the bad shots i have been making with my recurves. I lost 2 hogs this evening with not so great shots, plus the bad shot I made on the buck last week, and the 3 misses opening week. One is a bob lee take down hunter that I got from stikshooter and the other is an almost new martin rebel that i got from bass pro. thanks for all your help and input you guys but I owe to the animals to get rid of them and go back to compound. Dont cave.....their are MANY animals missed or wounded by copmound shooters as well!

Dont be a wuss. Maybe get some shooting instruction. I've already read several threads where people missed with compounds. Your probably not concentrating hard enough and not picking a spot.

Im not saying that you should give up at all cause I cant give in!! But if your not comfortable then its best that you do give it up. Im not a TRAD, fan really cause I think we advance in technology for the better in most cases and we have compound bows due to the fact that they are MORE ACCURATE and more humane in most cases! Im in NO WAY AGAINST traditional shooters and if thats what you do then Im all for it but I think like that compounds are the best bow to use due to the precision you can achieve with them! keep shooting then, if you just dont enjoy traditional then thats one thing but what you are doing is pinningthis off on the equipment instead of realizing maybe you shouldnt have hunted with it yet

You are not a wuss or a quitter. If you feel like you can not make good shots, then you are right to not keep shooting at animals. You are right they deserve your respect. If you have no confidance you will continue to do poorly.

I would not sell the bows on impulse. You may have a change of heart later. You may enjoy shooting them, even if you don't hunt with them. We all have ups and downs in our shooting, but next season you could have your confidance back. Unless you are desprate for the money, I would just put them away for a while.

What ever you decided to do, follow your heart and don't let the opinion's of others influence you otherwise. You will always be welcome at my camp, in either case.

While this is certainly a true statement...if you follow this logic, you should not shoot a compound either. I have never seen a compound that could out shoot a rifle!

unlucky hunter i dont think i blamed the equipment i said that i am shooting bad with them and I hate wounding animals. re read i never said it was the bow so dont comment please. I have shot compound my whole life and I love the traditional bow, but i will continue to bow hunt just not with a recurve. I have respect for all you guys that do it now that is for sure.

So you think that shooting TWO DIFFERENT BOWS is comparable to shooting a bow and a gun!!?? Man thats a good one! All Im saying is that as far as BOWS GO we have advanced to compounds for the purpose of more accuracy and better percentage of quick clean kills! Im not against trads. at all but my feeliongs are that to be as ethical a BOWHUNTER as I can be means I should go with technology and use a compound instead of a trad. due to the accuracy and percision of them

thats how i am feeling maglite. I need the sight pins undoubtedly, as i have missed more and made more bad shots this year than ever. It is not the bow, it is me, but i have lost all confidence in myself now . PJ

the first hog was 18 yrd quarterin away and i hit what i thought was the money maker. Found my arrow about 50 yrds away covered inblood. trailed about 300 yrds blood like you wouldnt believe and then it went in a thick swamp that was totally impassable to humans. the other i stalked to 20 yrds and got a good steady hold and put it right in the lungs and hit it right in the guts. dont know what happend. Likw I said im not against trad. shooting but for me its a question of why?? I can shoot a deer with a trad. or I can shoot a deer confidentaly with a compound!!

Shooting traditional equipment compared to compond has nothing to do with ethical shooting what it comes down to is some can not shoot traditional equipment they are unable to master it so they shoot something that take very little effort to be profecient in those of us which choose to hunt a different stile shouldnt be bashed as a matter of fact we uasaly have the upper hand on taking game we choose to keep it simple becuase it has been simple since the begining of time when you have mastered a piece of equipment as many of us have dont tell me that a compond is a better choice inside of 20 yards I will challange any compond shooter in a real hunting sitition to compare with his pep site and moveable sights and 75% let off It takes you about 2 minutes to aquire a shot not me around 5 seconds and I have a arrow on it way and most likely about to find its mark
