    Grizzly Broadhead Review

Six, brand new 175gr Grizzly Single Bevel Right Wing

Sharpening - VERY EASY - On an 8" paper wheel power strop, (polishing/rouge wheel only) - From out of the package, all six to shaving sharp in less than 10 minutes

Weight range after sharpening - 173.5, 174.5, 176.5, 176.5, 177.5, 178.0 - Since I just polished them sharp I doubt there is much difference in weight from before & after sharpening

    Spin test - perfect

Flight test - perfect - They shoot right with my 175gr VPA 3 blade heads

I do believe they will work. Now I just need to let some blood with them.

Thanks for the review. I need to find one of these power strops you speak of.

A power strop is the paper wheels mounted on a bench grinder.

One wheel has grit glued to it, and the other wheel just has rouge you apply to it. I sharpened these with just the rouge wheel.

Grizzly heads are great heads. I killed my first couple animals with them.

          Pros:
they fly great, easy to sharpen, I love the single bevel, awesome penetration.

I decided to switch for 2 reasons though.

          1. blood trails weren't what I needed in the rough-a** country I hunt in.
          2. due to the long point/tip if you hit something hard there is a chance that the tip will curl.

I got pretty frustrated when I shot at a rabbit, missed, hit nothing but dirt and bent the broadhead.

Keep in mind that you shouldn't shoot at rabbits with these, and this was before they sold a screw-in model so the time and effort to mount them was what made me upset that I had bent the head.

          Would I use them again..........in a heartbeat.

Just want to say thanks for your instructional video and tips here. I didn't get the exact power strop, but I bought a two-pack polishing set at Lowe'sj for $10. They are really for just polishing metal, but one of the cloth wheels is listed as 'firm'.

So, I mounted that on my bench grinder, applied some jewelers rouge, and then used your technique. Crazy sharp broadheads now. And every knife in the house is sharp too. It puts a 'mirror' type finish on the blade and is ridiculously easy to do.

My left hand is munched up from shaving the hair off of it, and it digging into the skin.

            Thanks again Rick!

Correct. Medium density fiber board. Basically really fine particle board. You can buy it at lowes or hd. Drill the arbor and cut out the circle. Chuck it on the motor to true it up. I run a 10" one on my tablesaw and work feom behind the saw. I can just hold a sanding block on the table top and raise the wheel into it to true it.

Been using grizzly's for years, I committed to them when we first tried them, my son shot a goat though the front leg, split the bone just like the pics in Dr. Ashby' reports then went on through the goodies and out the other side.

If you put one in a bench grinder you can use a chisel on the tool rest just like its a lathe.

They work very well. I got the idea from someone on a knife blog while i was looking into making a paper wheel. Im thinking about making an adjustable jig to hold broadheads or a knife at a consistent angle so it will be completely stupid proof.
