Yep. I do this even when I take my boys rifle hunting. Works almost every time. Good thread.

****. I'd rather shoot that over a whitetail any day

We are loaded with axis deer on our place. Probably a little too much. We gotta Thin some out, and thats the beauty of the off-season. It will keep me busy until WT season returns

Thanks, he is silver medal (gun). That's a nice buck you just posted. And I agree, I love the 'off season' because there isn't really such a thing when you have exotics. I hunt as much in the 'off season' as I do in WT deer season

Ok I have a question... What if you have ground blinds, and a place with lots of deer? I love the idea but I don't see this working very well for me cause it stacks the deer so that I don't have a clear shot... Anyone found a way around this?

I've hunted my whole life and have never thought of this.

I would make a V with two 3' logs, and put hand corn inside the point of the v. The deer will walk into the v and have his head down to feed. Place your v logs so that when the deer goes to feed he is broadside or quartering away. Granted this is a different hand corn strategy than the OPs idea. You could also put your hand corn line in a diagonal away from you, and not a straight line.

I've been thinking about this sense i read this lol... I'm going to do a reverse V next week while i'm out there.. I never really have an issue with this when a big deer is present, but if i'm trying to shoot a doe its a pain to get her cleared of other deer.

Ground blind or tree stand same thing if you have a lot off deer up - they are right next to each other so it can pose a problem like swamp rabbit said. Thays the only issue with it - otherwise its great

You can also put two branches in a "v", closest branch perpendicular to you, sprinkle some corn in there. They will stand broad side and their eyes will be covered. Trick an old Indian taught me. Guy made his own cedar arrows and bows.

In the hill country, we got things like cactus and limestone... If I'm on a rocky area, I just put the corn right in the depressions/behind them.

What I tend to do is broadcast a certain amount and then put the rest in lines/clumps to spread the deer out a bit.
