Black Widow is one of many companies that make great longbows. My suggestion is you buy a used one to start out in a low draw weight - 40lbs or so. After you have shot a while and your form is getting consistent then you can start exploring all the different options from different bowyers. See if you can hook up with some trad guys and shoot a bunch of different bows as it is very much a personal feel and preference thing. IMO it is wise to get comfortable with shooting trad before dropping a large amount on a premium bow. If it's a longbow you are after, it is hard to beat Sarrel's Archery

If your ever up Austin way then call Bob Sarrels to check out some of his bows. They are not any better or worse than any other bows but they are beautiful and priced a little better than most custom bows. Bob is a super nice guy, backs his bows well and the best part is he will let you try as many as you want while you are there. I have taken several people by and all have found that, shoots perfect for them, bow. It wasn't always the one they liked the looks of the best, but the perfect shooting bow for them. It put them way ahead in their new trad endeavor.

My advice is to go somewhere you can try a bunch of different bows. You will find what you want, and my bet is it won't be what you thought.
Go to a traditional shoot and ask folks if you can try their bows. They will let you. Trad. shooters are some of the most helpful people on the planet.

I have an old Root Longbow that I believe is 35#'s that I bought from the TBH family. It is a fun bow to shoot that shoots surprisingly well. I have a few Black Widow Longbows that you are welcome to try out as well. Well, lets just say I have a few different styles that you are welcome to shoot. Come by and we'll get you going.
