I killed a bull year before last and lost a cow last season. Hit high shoulder due to fletching getting hung in my rug rest. She was 15 yards, my bull was shot at 20. Both on public land DIY

I shot a cow a few years ago with a longbow that I built at 12 yards and then after the shot, a bull stepped in her exact tracks and let go with a bugle in my face. I was pumped to say the least!

Yes, 53# longbow, 515 grain wood arrow, Zwickey Delta at approximately 40 yards. Arrow buried to the fletching. Never even acted as if it were hit. Never flinched and didn't run, just walked about 15 yards and fell over.

                Public land.

                    Gotta love it!
My bull walked off about 40 yards and I saw him fall over. I actually posted "Bull Down" here in this forum right after he fell over while waiting the 30 minutes to walk over to him.... Talk about a rush!

Yep, I know what you mean. And then the work starts. My buddy shot a cow two days before I shot mine about 2 miles in the bottom of a canyon. It took us over half a day to pack his out. I shot mine up higher and we had mine at the processor by 2:00 PM.

Sure wish I was able to go back. I sure loved hunting those mountains for deer and elk, but my days are over.

Go while your young and can or you may never get to. If you you can of course.

Killed one in 2011 on the second day of the season. 25 yard shot with a 53# bow. Then my hunting partner killed one the next evening near the same wallow. Worked to pack them out from sunset until sunrise nonstop. Made it to Mcdonalds in town just in time for breakfast. Public land DIY. Going in again this year.
