I think that back in the day, the Indians didn't ask each other if they anchored, canted or gripped the bow. It was only about bringing back some food. No matter how far they shot or how many arrows it took to get it done.
If you can hit where you want and get it done your way...that right there is the proper way.

Every one has their own form and if it works well then stay with it. How ever, there is a more important part of the form that should be adhered to if you want to shoot for a long part of your life span. It is healthy shooting form. If you don't use it then you will have shoulder, elbow or wrist problems some time in your shooting life. You will also have to shoot lighter draw weights as well.

Looking at your form in your avatar, Cajuntec, you will have those problems if you don't tweak your form slightly. You need to bend your bow arm slightly to relieve the stress and vibrations to your bow arm joints. Bending the arm at the elbow will also have the arm at a different angle, both at the shoulder and the wrist. It also causes you to use a lower grip on the bow as well. Look at pictures of Howard Hill and Fred Bear and you will see the proper way.

It's a small thing for you to do and shouldn't affect your shooting that much but will keep you shooting healthy for many more years to come. Good luck with it.

I shoot what is comfortable for me. Sure, there are more accurate shooters out there, but my style is effective. The only "form" aspect I concentrate on is a relaxed string hand. Pretty simple I guess, but it works for me. As long as your style works for you, let er eat.

shoot what is comfy for you, just repeat what you do, and if its stacking arrows, thats proper form, its like a golf swing, there's never been a identical golf swing in the history of golf, there are similar golf swings but everyone has their own unique back swing and the way they come down thru the ball, but they all come down on plane, just like with traditional archery, just anchor correctly and release correctly to what feels comfy to you

Great thing about TBH: simple form thread gets quality responses from champion archers. Key seems to be consistency to what works for you and lots of practice to make it automatic.
