I need to get arrows for a fall pheasant hunt. I'm not sure what to get - any help is appreciated.

    Setup:

    Blueridge
    64"
    45#

Had no idea you could shoot arrows out of a 12 gauge...what kind of choke does that take?

Improved cylinder. But I ran with a first model year Citori 20 ga.

Time to make use of my trad bow and the GSP this year.

Modified choke i bet. But for as arrows no idea, try looking up some videos of chris bracket or some if the other pro shooters that have taken dove and other birds with bows.

Flu Flu's with a broad head.

Like said above, flu-flus with a broadhead are best. Most guys with dogs will not let you use broadheads because they do not want their dogs to get hurt. When I shot mine I used flu-flus with field points. The bird points, like a snaro, will work, but I had better success with the field points. If you can get the arrow stuck in the bird, it will hit the ground and you have a better chance to recover it.

              Thanks for the input gents.

Would you go with a Carbon Express version or a wood? If wood, where would you suggest to purchase them?

I hunted with the same arrows that I shoot every day, Gold Tip carbons. If you go with what you already know is tuned correctly, then all you have to do is fletch some up with fluflus and go hunt, no tuning!

Here is a pic of the one I got out of the air with my longbow:

I had a blast pheasant hunting with my bow, and would go again in a heartbeat!

When we did it, we had a group of 5 or 6 guys. We had all but one using bows. The last guy used a shotgun, and would shoot after we all missed. We took turns on the shotgun and split all the gun birds up at the end of the hunt to eat!

                It was an awesome time!

Thanks Bisch, I like the idea of field points. It will make my setup easier and less burdensome. Time for some new arrows!

                  Selway, hip or back quiver?

I just used a hip quiver, the same one that I use when I shoot 3D.

Use whatever you can afford to lose. I have always wanted to pheasant hunt. Looks like a blast . I have shot at doves with blunts. They are **** hard to hit. The arrows went really far even with flu flu . It was a great time and i didn't have to clean any birds.

I started out trying for doves with flu-flus. I could not get anywhere close. The doves were just too fast. I went back to regular feathers, and although I still have not got a dove yet, I am getting real close to them!

Cool, I am going to have to give that a shot. No pun intended

I suggest using broadheads if possible. I went on those hunts with Bisch, and I saw birds with field points through them take the arrow and run over the horizon. I used the tip of a Thunderhead (no blades) and put a turkey collar / small game add on behind that.
