    Martin X-200 recurve question

I've found one that was in fairly good condition at a pawn shop recently. They wanted $200 for it with the "rock bottom price of $185." There was a small 1/2 in nick on the riser and practically in great condition. It came with a string that looked to be in pretty good condition also. I looked the bow over and the limbs seem to be straight and the tips are in great condition...

my question is, is this an ok deal? or what offer should i counter with? This would be my first recurve since this is what i want to move towards, so i'd like a decent bow to learn with...

    Thanks guys!

I don't know much about the Martins but you never hear anything bad. For $185 I would think you could get most of that back if it didn't work out. As for the bow, depending on specs, it should be a great bow to learn on and hunt with for a long time BUT once bit, you will be looking at other trad bows...it is an addiction for which there is no cure. Just ask my wife!

I have a #45 X-200. I would consider it the perfect bow to learn with.

I would not start any heavier than that.

I stand corrected - it's been a long time since I looked - Martin trad bows seem to have gone up about 48%..
