    40 pound bows

Who shoots bows in the 40 to 45 pound draw weight, and what animals have you harvested. I like my 43#@27" blackwidow and I'm sure it's gonna be my new hunting bow. What's you 40 something draw weight and length and largest animal you've harvested.

48# Three Rivers Tomahawk Diamond SS for me last season, shooting cedar arrows gave me a complete pass-through and a 60-yard tracking job.

This year, I will be hunting deer with my vintage Hoyt TD-3 20" riser fitted with some TradTech Black Max recurve limbs at 47#. It's shooting lights-out for me, dropping them in the vitals of my 3D target out to 30. Chrono'd my 460 grain arrows at 180fps.

For whitetails, a quiet bow in the mid-40's will not only be a pleasure to shoot, it will absolutely get the job done with the right broadhead.

Due to hand problems, arthritis, I had to drop my weight down to 47#.....

43-47# on my bows. Deer, hogs and rams no problem. I only take what I consider to be perfect broadside shots and nothing past 25 yards. Killed my last two deer under 10 yards.

A couple a seasons ago I took the doe in the avatar with 44#.

This past year I shot 40# during the year for practice and 3d, then switched to 50# when deer season started. I have a 45# set of Morrison limbs on order that I plan on shooting for all purposes.

I have bows mid to high 50s but that 43# is fun to shoot

That with your 43 lb bow? Whats your draw length?

Sharp broadheads and you'll have no issues

45 lbs works for me on all that I have shot. As long as I do my part the bow has done his.
