What kind of string notch is this?

I have a bow in my shop that has a string notch set up that I am not familiar with. I am not an avid traditional shooter although I do have a couple of recurves I play with here and there. I think I have an idea on how to string this bow, but the string pops off when you put pressure on it. Thanks for any help.

Not sure why the pics didn't go through. Here's the second try.

Well, I keep getting an upload fail message. I'll post them when I get back to work. Sorry about that guys.

If you string it "backwards" the string will pop off.

WOO HOO... It finally worked. This a recurve that I am working on. the notches are cut towards teh top of the tip instead of the bottom. the string loop would have to wrap over the tip into the "notch" cut into the top of the tip. Have any of y'all had any experience with this?

This is the back of the limb of a recurve, tip pointing away from camera.

this is the front of the limb, curve pointing towards the camera.

Ok... I finally had some more time to try to get these pictures up. I think I got it this time.

This is a Groves recurve. This is the back of the limb. That is the string groove going into the notch at the top, and the string notches are cut towards the top of the limb, so the string would have to go up and over the extra notch in the tip of the limb.

This is the same limb tip, from the front.

I'm not going to be much help, but that limb tip is screwed! That's crazy the way it is now.

I can't decide if someone cut the tips off and tried to be inventive, or if this was some odd design that was really innovative?

Some one has cut the limbs shorter, probably trying to get more poundage out of the bow. You can see the tip lams are right at the grooves. They should be a little ways below the normal string groove.

Somebody screwed up there. Must not of been around bows much. You could shorten it if you removed those and added new ones. The bow would probably need to be re tillered and would gain about 7 lbs draw weight
