I plan to use the 65 again this year.
They would not let me hunt with a 50 if I wanted to.

The pick a spot thing is what makes it such a dreadful shot.
They only feed at night and are very spooky about lights.
We hang a dim red light in a tree above the bait where you can make out the out line of the pig against the ground and that is what you have to work with.

Tough shot at best but it is doable, I have killed a train car load of them here with a simalar setup.

Most of the folks that go off to hunt have that one animal. My BFF Chunky has spent enough money to buy a nice truck chasing Elk, with out killing one.
Bisch cant kill a Wildebeast even though he has killed a little bit of everything.

Mine is Bushpig, You can go over and ride around in the back of a truck and kill 8 or 10 a night shooting them out of the crops. They are concidered vermin but I came up with the stupid ideal of taking one with a bow and have been trying to get it done for 5 years.

Sometimes I think the truck might have been a better way to go
I don't know about you, but when I have my mind set on accomplishing something a certain way, when I change my mind to make it easier, it isn't nearly as rewarding and I have a hard time celebrating it. The other way may still be fun, but I do relish the challenges I set out for myself. My wife calls me crazy... maybe I am. Oh well.

Nothing wrong with shooting one with a gun... but you will be back, and you will eventually get it with a bow.

          Hmmm.............

Gotta say, I hadn't realized such "fear of failure" existed among hunters.

Sounds distinctly akin to target panic, though I don't think any of my TP messages would be applicable to this particular mental roadblock.

Thinking maybe I ought to consider designing such a message. Otoh, I'm left thinking most guys would just write it off to a temporary manhood challenge, and say to themselves "I can do it," just as some above have stated.

Funny how many of the formerly TP afflicted (including me) had the same thoughts.... for years and years in many cases, leading to a lot of sad stories and busted dreams.

Am I the only one who chuckles a little when I see target panic reduced to a 2 letter accronym?

I think it is very similar to Target panic.
I have always thought TP was caused by someone not wanting to turn loose of an arrow because they were afraid of missing. While I dont think killing a hog is much of a "manhood challange" the fear of wounding another one is enough to weigh on me. I have been very lucky and can count on one hand the animals I have wounded and lost hunting in Africa.
The down side is two of those fingers are bush pigs.
I guess if it was easy woman and children would be doing it

Good luck Buff! What you're trying to do ain't always easy, but if you persist you will succeed. Just be positive brother and you will close this deal out!

I took the easy way out and nailed this fine boar 15 minutes into my first hunt for one.

I am in Africa now, but I am working unfortunately. In 2 weeks I will be headed to Turkey for a Bezoar Ibex, hopefully like this!

                  Or this

Actually, that's quite understandable. Here at TBH, there's not that much talk of it (and I'd like to think that I have played a small role in that).

But go to AT, and you'll find some 34 pages (about 30 threads per page).

Buff's Bushpig that's on bait, he comes in every night between 7:00 and 8:00. Everything is ready and set, the wind must just play along together with the rain. All that's left is, Buff to arive and stick an arrow in him...
