    bird hunting question

I started a thread here asking for some advice on what to get for bird hunting (traditional vs compound) and have gone with Langston's advice as I was leaning that way as well and will get a recurve.

From the skimming in this section the advice is to go with a light draw for being a beginner. So here is my question to the experts here: Would 30# be too light for dove/quail/fish? I want something easy to learn with but capable and not need to invest in higher poundage limbs in a short period of time. I was thinking 40# or 45# before reading here but now am questioning myself so looking for some advice.

Want to try and stay below $250 (preferably <$200) and see some marting sabers bowfishing packages around $220. Thoughts on those or something else appreciated.

If you are of average size and build and strength, there is not really any reason you could not start off with 40#, or maybe even 45#. It all depends on your strength. If you can handle the 45 without struggling, then it is OK. The key is to be able to learn good form without haveing to also fight the weight of the bow. If you cannot handle the draw weight easily, learning good form will be difficult.

IMO, 30# will be too light for most bird hunting. It may be OK for bowfishing.

i would say go with 40#
It's a nice start and it's definitely enough bow to kill anything in north America.

Martin saber is a bit longer so it'll be more forgiving on those quick snap shots. Never tried bow fishing though
