    I missed

This evening first time I shot at an animal with my recurve a 9pt buck. Ten yards and I missed. I shoot pretty good at 20 yards but maybe it's different from elevated position as iv always practice on the ground. None the less this was a huge rush and I am definitely CHALLENGED!

Buck fever had caused my misses with my longbow. Still boatloads of fun

That's part of the reason I love bow hunting. Nothing Is a guarantee. Guns are too easy, unless it's a pistol!!

I missed my first doe with the longbow from a tree stand at 15 yards. It's different being elevated. So I'm starting to practice from a tree stand now.

Most all of us have missed a time or two, or ten! Stick with it and it will happen!

Btw, you should find some way to practice from an elevated position if you are going to hunt from an elevated position. The shot is actually the same, but it is easy to lower your bow arm instead of bending at the waist, which almost always results in a high hit or high miss.

Congrats on getting a shot, stay with it and it will come together.

It happens to all of us. Let me guess, you shot over his back? Wish I had 5 bucks for every arrow I've put over a deer's back in the past 35 years.

Keep at it. Yes, it is exciting, even when you miss!

X2, you gotta bend at the waist and practice from elevated positions.

I practice from my roof and it helps a ton. (Single story, low pitch roof.)

I would also bet a sack of doughnuts you missed high. That is very common.

Two things to consider 1 people tend to shoot high from an elevated position. 2 many of us forget to pick a tiny spot, and shoot at the whole animal...which tends to make you miss high.

I put a friend and new Bowhunter in a stand where I knew he would see pigs, last thing I said...shoot low. He missed high. It happens.

I tell the story often of how when I was trying to kill my first deer with trad bow, I missed the same little yearling doe 4 times...all right over the back. Identical shots, probably would have missed more, but I was out of arrows. Deer was still eating corn, I guess she figured out I wasn't dangerous.

Keep at them and remember, it's better to miss low...than to hit'em high!

I missed the first 4 animals I ever shot at with a Trad bow then killed the next 4 in a row! It will come together for you! Practice like you hunt(elevated, from ground blinds, kneeling, standing, sitting, wierd positions,at 3-D targets, etc.) with any type of bow!
