    Mixed company in my blind

I'm hunting with my brushwolf hybrid this year and now my wife is wanting to do archery since I have some nice bucks coming in. So she's getting a crossbow tomorrow. I'm mixed on this, in Wa. it's not legal archery gear but I've always liked em. Just a cool idea, shoots like a rifle, sounds like a bow. So we're gonna see who can get a deer or hog first, Traditional or Modern. I'm going after hogs Sunday and she'll be heading out as soon as she can get all shots inside a 8 inch target at 30, shouldn't be too hard because she's a crackshot with a rifle.

Side note, she's gonna try a recurve next year.

If a cross bow gets her excited then a cross bow is a great weapon.
I'd love to have my wife hunt with me some. I bought a cheap cross bow last year and she kinda likes it but was only able to hunt 1 day last year. I just hope she likes it enough this year to go a little more often.

Glad that she is joining you. If she is not experienced with a crossbow, just make sure she doesn't get her forward thumb in the way of the string when it goes off. Some people tend to hold the crossbow like a rifle and let their thumb stick up above the fore end. Not a good outcome. Good luck to both and get her that recurve so that she can start practicing.

The first Time I took someone to by a Crossbow I had your Same Feeling about crossbow hunting and Boy was I being Dumb. I have hunted with a Bow for well over 20yrs and Figured a Crossbow was Just cheating. Again a very bad judgment on my Part.
Since that day I Push people to try it to get everyone that loves to hunt out in the Woods. My Father-in-law and son both have one now and are in the woods opening day of season. If it was not for the crossbow that would not be possible for them. My son is to young to pull 40lbs just yet and my Father-in-law is able to enjoy the sport again he always loved after a Major hart surgery. They both limit their shots to 30yards due to the loudness of the Bow and still pretty much hunt the same set ups as you and me. Congrats to you for getting to share something so special with your love one. It will only light the fire for her by getting a chance to experience something we all love so much. After 2 yrs of hunting with a crossbow my son asked for his first bow. Something I figured might would never happen after he started hunting with a crossbow. Welcome to the Beginning and best of luck to you and you wife this season

We took it to nocked and loaded to get the cables replaced but the whole 2 hour drive back from Coleman was about which of the bucks that are coming in she wants to get. The brush blind I'm hunting is a tad bit small for 2 of us so we might try a tree stand across the clearing for her. Still will be fun!

Best of luck to her. It doesn't matter what you use as long as you are out there having fun.

Good for you, Good Luck! I've always found it best to set with a "Newby" a time or two and just concetrate on them hunting. I assume that she's hunted before, just not with a crossbow. After she feels comfortable with it, then it's time for her own blind! Might mean that she'll get a shot before you, but will increase the odds that she'll be hooked forever. Can't ask for a better hunting partner!

Long story short... I'll be hunting with a compound, a recurve, and a rifle this season. I enjoy hunting and eating game. While some methods are more fun in my opinion than others and bring different levels of satisfaction, I am not one to deny myself the satisfaction of brining home some venison for family and friends.

Don't overthink it... we often make hunting harder for ourselves... we shouldn't make it harder for others. Let them be the one's to make it harder for themselves. Only then will they find true satisfaction rather than releif from frustration.

She's actually killed more with a rifle then I ever have. But always spot and stalk so we'll see how her patience is.
