How do i go about cresting wood arrows?. Two different color stains? Fabric dye thinned with denatured alcohol? Do I again the crest first then the bottom of the shaft? Any help will be greatly appreciated

Not an expert.
I stain with alcohol based stain.
5 layers of gasket laquer.
And crest with testors.
