How much twist in your string . . .

    On a recurve?

    #2
On a flemish twist string the twists keep the string together. I like no more than two or three per inch and no less than one every inch and a half. Too many and the string will tend to knot when unstrung. On an endless loop fewer are required, but you need a few to keep the string from "balooning" on release as high speed photography is said to show I've read.

I try to build my flemish strings to yield 1/2 twist per inch of overall length of string.
If I get over 1 twist per inch I build a new string.

Endless loop strings need about 8 to 10 total twists in them.
