    Strange emails

Over the last month or so, I have gotten a few strange emails. It'll be from somebody with a really American-sounding name, and they'll be from Ohio or something, but it's obvious from their email that English is not their native language. They each want to order something from me. One guy wanted cedar shafts. Another guy wants a bow handle. Another guy just wanted a custom bow.

Well, I don't sell anything. I assume they got my email address from my bow building web page, but there's nothing on there to indicate that I sell anything at all.

The emails come across as a little demanding, too. Like one guy emailed me wanting to send him 50 pictures and prices.

I responded to the first couple of emails by saying I didn't sell such & such, but after this most recent email, I'm wondering what is going on and whether I should respond at all. I can't imagine what kind of scam it could possibly be because nobody has asked me for any kind of information that could be used to get money out of me. When I told the cedar shafts guy that I don't sell cedar shafts, he emailed me back and said, "What DO you sell?" I said, "I don't sell anything," and that was it.

Since they all come across as somewhat foreign sounding, I'm wondering if it's the same person using different names and different email addresses. Maybe somebody is just messing with me.

I don't really know what to make of it, and I was just curious if any of you had any thoughts about it.

I would say that it is very strange to say the least. Personally, I wouldn't respond. I don't think there's a great likelyhood that anything bad could happen to you though. They keep asking to buy stuff you don't sell. That kinda makes me think it's some kind of attempted scam. But what, as you said, I couldn't imagine.

I've had some weird responses like that to Craigslist ads when I was selling a wooden bed frame or canoe. The red flags were the sketchy sounding English and vague reference to the "item I had for sale" instead of "please tell me more about the Cherry wood twin bed frame..."

Never reply, Sam. I've heard horror stories from buddies about this.
        Ignore them and block them.

I get them all the time for TBH merchandise. Delete and ignore is always my rule.

One guy had to go to the Po Po and get them involved but that was from Craigslist.
As long as you ignore and block you'll be okay. You haven't engaged them far enough yet.

Alot of times they send too much money " accidently" and ask that you send the extra back. They usually send a fraudulent cashiers check or money order and ask that you mail it back as soon as you receive it.

Oh, I see. That makes sense. I just never got that far with them. That explains why the guy asked, "What DO you sell?" after I told him I didn't sell what he was asking for.
