    recurve arrow rest

i have a fiberglass recurve bow and am looking for a rest for it. most recurves have what id call a built in arrow rest. the indent above where you hold the bow that the arrow sits. mine doesnt have that, its just a straight handle.

what should i be looking for?

    something like this....?

You could use that. Or you could make a floppy rest for it like this:

If you are shooting trad gear without the aid of sights, I would highly suggest that you keep the arrow as close to your bow hand as possible. If the shelf is really flat, then you have two options:
        1. Removing some wood so the shelf has a peak.
        2. gluing a small peace of leather under the traditional leather rest so there is one point of contact where the arrow touches the bow.

If you look at most modern recurves to see how the shelf is built, their is one high point where the arrow touches the bow. This makes for a clean release of the arrow and also helps with hand to eye coordination with the arrow close to the hand holding the bow.

Are you talking about a bow with no shelf? I have a selfbow with no shelf, and I just shoot off my wrist. 3RiversArchery.com sells a special wrist glove to help with that so you can shoot off your wrist, assuming it's a bow with no shelf. You need underspined arrows, though, to help with that.
