    bowfishing set-up

anybody know what it takes to set up an old-school recurve for bow-fishing?

I shoot off the shelf on my recurve. I shoot the fiberglass arrows without the little rubber fins. Those things are uesless anyway. I made a side mount for my reel that matches the screw holes where my quiver qas. If you dont have any mounting holes or don't want to put them in your bow, there are strap on adapters. One that goes on the back of the bow and I recently saw one that is for the side of the bow. Hope this helps.

I forgot to add, I use the retriever reel systems. Thats why I built the sidemount. The strapon side adapter that I mentioned is for these type reel's.

I use a big push button reel myself, an old Zebco 808. I have it on the side of the bow.

Dont forget to tune the bow for shooting fish arrows. Mine tend to need the nockset to be higher than normal. The arrow should hardly make any splash when it goes in the water.

use senergy reels from shakespere if you are new because the little retreiver pin is the only thing that breaks when you shoot wihtout pushing the button on a synergyreel but if you use the zebco the whole reel is screwed

If you tie the string on the back of the arrow and the reel is on the side of the bow the arrow falls off when you draw if the button is not pushed.
