I like calf hair for the strike plate

Although I use velcro on the shelf, I sometimes use leather for a strike plate just because leather is thinner than velcro and that affects dynamic spine.

I am using bear-hair now, but my favorite is seal skin. I had it on a previous bow and loved
it. After that bow blew up, I just never got around to ordering any more seal skin. I have
gotten it before at Alaska Bowhunter Supply.

I started using sheep skin with the wool still on it years ago. It never seems to wear out. I just glue it on with fletching glue then use my beard trimmer to get the shape I want. I used to wear a hardhat at work and they provided us with a wool snap on band for the forehead so I ended up with a few of them. I use a leather plate on the riser.
Velcro does sound easy to use.

Seal skin to me is the best rest. Otter skin works pretty darn good too. Just have to trim it down some. Velcro is easier though.
