    Carbon question

O.K. gentlemen, my wife has recently started shooting a crossbow and now she wants some Lumenoks. My problem is these carbon bolts, I shoot cedar arrows and know absolutely nothing about carbon. I know some of you guys shoot carbon. How do I get the present knocks out so I can install the Lumenoks? I have completely destroyed one knock with pliers trying to twist it loose, can't even get a hold on it now. Can it be heated to break down the glue?

I am not sure how to get the factory nocks out of the bolts but I do know they make special lighted nocks now for crossbows.

If memory serves me right they should just pull out like any nock from a carbon arrow, that is, unless someone glued them in. A carbon crossbow bolt is the same carbons just cut shorter. Of course things sure could have changed from the 4 years ago that I had any dealings with them. Heating the shaft will cause the shaft to break down/melt so I would advise against heating. Best of luck!

Charlie, can you try air pressure?

Lumenok makes a lighted bolt for cross bows, I have never been able to remove a nock from a bolt when they have brought them into the shop.

Your probably going to have to get some bare shaft bolts and start form scratch.

Thanks everybody, looks like I will be buying her some more bolts. I saw some in catalog, 6 for around $59 and 3 of them have lighted nocks.

Hey, just thought of something else, try cutting the bolt just below where you think the nock might end. Or cut it about 3/16" below the top of the shaft and then drill out the rest of the nock. What material are the nocks made out of?

Her bolts are 22 inch with plenty of room to cut off the old nock. What is the best way to cut these carbon shafts?

Thanks BowBuddy, she actually has a recurve that she bowfishes with, just not confident enough for deer.
