Make sure and pack layers of clothing. Out trip last year included morning fishing trips and afternoon hunts we were in the sun all morning and in the stands in the afternoon. Hence the need for layers as the temperature fluctuates a lot. Take as much wind/water proof gear as you can as most of our movement was by boat therefore it was quite a bit colder with the possibility of getting wet. Rubber boots are a must! That's the only thing I'm taking this year. Makes getting around a lot easier without the worry of getting your feet wet. I purchased an extra release today just in case. I would take a face net just as a precaution. Where are you guys headed?

If you arew flying up there, I do not think you can take the butane bottles for the thermocell, even in checked luggage. You will have to get that in Canada. I am going to Quebec on my first bear hunt in June.

        Good luck to you.

Just like anything else you're going to have to find something that works for you in terms of price and comfort. Last year was my first adventure to Canada and I did not pack rubber boots. I got by but I had to be extremely careful getting in and off the boats. This year I purchased a pair of Irish Setter boots to make the trip with me. One other thing I would encourage is the rental of a sat phone. Don't know if you'll have service with your phone or not. I was told by AT&T that I would have service and lets just say I did until we landed!!

Look up some of Keep's bear hunting Q&A threads. There is a thread every year and he's probably posted his list on one of those threads.

Oh, and even with the thermacell I'd get a bug suit... Best piece of clothing I brought when I went bear hunting the last two years!!!

I prefer the Muck brand rubber boots.

Im not floating down some river on a boat for this hunt. Ill be on some property outside the city/town of Grande Prarie, AB, Canada, hunting with Mike's Outfitters. What about wet weather gear?

Never bear hunted Canada only Alaska. Needed the best rain gear possible there. I like muck boots as well, you can get insulated ones. Insects can be a problem, I use head netting. Pretty much other than that your normal hunting gear, bino's flash lights ect.
