LOL, might be getting a bit deep...as I have done extensive field work on this subject, and not found this to be entirely true.

Being a recent Trad convert, I find the compound bow easy, kind of like shooting a rifle. The Trad bow is by far harder, but simpler. I find my self practicing alot again, like when I first got my compound. I haven't given up on my wheelie bow, just want to cheat on it with a new "hot" Recurve girlfriend!

Switching to Trad has been one of the most rewarding and difficult things I've ever done. I'm not a natural at it I guess. Sure glad I didn't give up on it. Came close a time or 2 thats for sure.

I'll put it this way..."You'll get buck fever when shooting at a doe".

I got my first recurve 3 years ago just to screw around/play with and didn't have any expectations on shooting very well with it. But the screwing around was so much more fun than the compound that I got to where I would shoot my recurve all the time and only shoot my compound when I wanted to hunt. Eventually I just quit messing with the compound and sold it last summer. Trad is definitely a challenge but every time you see your shooting improve, it just gets more and more fun. Just dive right in, you won't regret it.

I've been shooting Trad for 20 years. The biggest thing I remember about making the switch was the simplicity of shooting traditional. I never have to check the tightness of the bolts on my bow, dont have to worry about the sights getting bumped and will never again worry about forgeting my release, which is by the way the reason I carried my recurve into the woods that first time. Shot an armadillo and a coyote and had a great time. Sold the compound soon after that and never looked back.
I don't think compounds have much of an advantage over trad bows, just more technology which isnt always better.

Shooting a compound seems like "work". Not much fun and I'm ready to quit after one or two groups. I could shoot my recurve all day. Fun and challenging. Like Buff said, you can entertain a group of Trad guys for 8 hours with their bows and an empty plastic water bottle. =)
