    I chickened out.

I went to a 3D shoot today and I took my compound and my longbow. When I got there I didn't see anyone with Trad equipment so I left her in the truck. The whole time I was on the range with my compound I felt like I was cheating. My score suffered because my heart was with another.

I'm seeing into the future... Of me doing the exact same thing at my first 3D for 2013 on March 3rd.

Well, you missed out on a really fun time, for sure. The first 3D shoot I went to with a stick bow, I started with about a dozen arrows. On the last target I had to borrow an arrow from one of the other guys cause every one of mine was eithe lost, broke, or too bent to use! I still had a blast and was bound and determined to figure out how to shoot stick bows after that!

That's what I was worried about, I only have 5 arrows.

Don't you dare!! Gotta get those feet wet sometime! I knew a gal that felt the same way, she was a good shot when they came over and shot here in the back yard. Finally forced her into going and shooting and she did great! Just got to go, relax and have fun!!

Lynda, I'll take the leap if you do. Where are you shooting on the 3rd? I might see ya there.

I know you're right. I'll have to get more arrows. I only have five too, lol! I read a piece by Rod Jenkins today about going to pieces when it counts, he was talking about the difference between shooting in the yard and aiming at that trophy... Basically there is no difference! I can relate to that already, just need to put it into practice.

Buffalo Field. Will you be there? I'm thinking that if I go trad, I'll use my rangefinder and not hand my card in. Or is that not cool? My distance judging is not good.

Yes I'll be there. Lets just bring our sticks and leave the training wheels at the house.

Just go and have fun!!! Fisrt time out with the stick will probably be a bit of an eye opener but that is OK. Being so difficult is part of what make success with a trad bow so rewarding.

                      Alright, let's do it!

Besides, I wouldn't want to leave a bow in the car, especially if it's getting warm.

                      I feel so... liberated!

I lost 5 arrows yesterday at the TBOT in Fredericksburg. 4 lost and 1 broken. I scored a 134 I did not think that course was that difficult, a lot of the Targets where small like turkey and javelinas. Oh well Bullis next Weekend and than Canyon Lake and Austin.

The first shoot I brought my recurve to I was the only person there with a stick. I liked the idea because there was zero pressure on me. If I missed a target no one would say ooooohh lol

So it sounds like Buffalo Field on Mar 3rd would be a good place to join some rookies and a walk through the woods to loose arrows!!!

Lol, Lynda, just jump in there with your stick and string. Imo the range finder is not cool. I can't judge distance worth squat and I do ok most of the time. Hogslayer, I once missed 18 out of 30 targets. You won't do any worse than that.
