    Gap shooting question

Finally got time to read through Dragon's post up above. I posted on there but no response.

So where do I start if my point has to be left or right from the center line to hit dead on? Do I need to start over with my arrows and change lengths to get them to be "point on". I"m not doing bad instinctive but I'm just not confident enough to hunt. I'm hoping gap shooting will push me over the edge but I don't want to ruin a dozen arrows trying to figure it out. Any advice?

If they're left and right then the issue is at least partly you. You can adjust the thickness of the side plate, the length of the shaft, the point weight, and even the brace height to make some adjustments. It would help to know if you're shooting right or left handed and where the arrows are hitting in relation to the center line, when aimed down the center.

Thanks. I"ll do some testing. It's been a few weeks so i'm not sure on the exact shot placement...but it seems like when I put the tip of the arrow on the center line it was hitting to the left. I'll double check.

You will be better off if it's off to the left. Adding point weight will bring it over and more point weight is always a good thing.

On the other hand, make sure the arrow is under your eye at full draw. With some anchors, a more vertical held bow will put the back end of the arrow to the right of your eye. (for right hand shooters) Not a bad thing as you can cant the bow, canting your head to stay in line with the limbs of the bow will put your eye over the arrows.

Sorry I missed your other post.

I was wrong. Everything hit to the right. My up and down was goo at 25. But everything 6-8" right. I'm still learning anchors and release so it's probably too early to worry over arrows

You can try lighter points or heavier spined arrows to bring it over to the left. I personally like arrows spined too heavy and just keep going to heavier points until they are on laterally.

You can make a few adjustments with what you're shooting right now. You can build out the side plate with matchsticks or whatever and dropping your brace height will move the arrows left as well. One caution though is if you're waveing your right hand off at release (like a rodeo queen) that will move your impact to the right no matter what you're doing on the bow. Make sure the release is good and if so try my suggestions.

I figger that's too much thinkin for me.
But I do use point shooting out past 30. Everything else is sight picture cause I don't want or need to think bout too much stuff when I'm tryin to keep my heart from leapin outa my chest..... while sayin pick a spot, pick a spot.
