    Shortest longbow?

What size are some of the "shorter" longbows that y'all are shooting? I've got the longbow bug. The only one I've shot (Bear Montana) was 62". How do the shorter longbows (below 60") feel compared to the longer ones. How much stacking or other effects would I likely notice with a 27" draw? Thanks for the input.

There was a link to a guy in California who makes a 40". He wants $500 for one.

That's a little too short. But I appreciate the info. I was thinking more along the lines of 56"-58". My recurve (Palmer classic) is 64" so anything shorter than that will feel tiny.

Get with Trad Doc, he shoots some pretty short bows.

58" is about as short as I can handle at 28" draw

Thanks Mike. Mind telling me what draw weight you have with that bow and what arrow set up you're using? THanks.

              48lbs@28"

              Arrow is a woody.. 60-65 cut 29" BOP with 190 - 200 grain point or 55-60 cut 29" with a 160 grain point... either with 3 - 5" or 5.5" shield cut feathers

P.S. the Bois D'arc is much darker now, the photo was taken last year...

See lots of 58" listed in various classifieds. Don't see many that are shorter though.

Talk to Bob Sarrels, Bobby. He has a new one in production at 54 inches called the Saw Tooth. I'm interested in it for shooting in a pop up. I'm going up sometime next week to look at it and shoot it. I ubderstand it has very little if any hand shock and a really smooth draw. Call him up. His number is 512/940-3098.

Chew, I have a "short longbow". It is 50"s tip to tip when strung and as long as I do my part, it will do its part. It is little harder and not quite as smooth drawing as my 49" Black Mountain Shaman recurve, but for the most part, longbows don't draw quite as smoothly as recurves. At my 27" draw it comes in at 50#s. this is the only pic I have of it. Click image for larger version

ID:	24170408 It originally started out a 54" bow for the bowyers wife but was in a vehicle at the time his wife rolled it 8 times and one of the tips was broken off. By the time he re-worked it, it came out 50"s and the poundage had climbed to high for his wife to work up to. I am the third and final owner of this little bow.

56" bow is short as I would go. You can really tell when shooting a 52" bow a 56"bow 58" bow and a62"bow. I have owned all these sizes and when u get below 58" the shot groups get bigger.

A 50" bow sounds interesting. Shorter than the Bears. Can you tell me who made your bow and reworked it, please?

Don't need large groups. I already got them ... LoL
