    bowfish'n question.

as it's getting warmer, and ALMOST time to wet an arrow.
    now the question,
some are looking at new bows. in years past allways found a old cruve in the pawn shop and use it. would give it away and look for a new one anyways.
look'n for a new "cheap" fisher.. do you think it would be better to go with a metal riser bow, stay with the wood.
my think'n is the metal riser would be easier to clean and take care of, grease the bolts and wax the limbs, but the old archer in me ""loves wood bows""
it's kind of weird, i'd never think of a metal bow for hunting or 3d. but bowfishing??

    what's your thoughts..

I LOVE my AMS Fish Hawk.

That bow has been dropped in the water, thrown in the water, throw in the boat, bounced around in the bed of the truck, etc. and still nails em!

Compound bow that you can snap shoot like a recurve.

Ive used fish hawks when I was guiding. They got used and abused and hung up wet. Used the Ams retrievers.

      Was a big fan.

But last year ended up using a Onieda and fell on love with it. Never really got wrapped around the idea of it before hand though. Also got hooked on the muzzy reels too.

That will be the set up im going with this year.

I have a pse barracuda ( compound), 40# 0 letoff works great, I do alot of wade bowfishing and get to spots I cannot cross without submerging it entirely. Works all the time and easy to clean.

I've always used my wood recurves that I hunt with. Never had a problem.

I have a PSE Kingfisher. a 45 pound recurve made out of magnesium (or something like
that) riser and glass limbs. made for fishing and you can drop it in the lake and it won't
hurt it. It will sink, however. I saw one at cabelas with a hand reel, arrow, and rest for
139$. I bought mine in the bargain cave 2 or 3 years ago for about 80$.

I use a Quinn recurve. It has a metal riser. I love it and it has served me well. Not super expensive either
