I just finished making my first "real" string...after making that one 2 foot practice string.
A few lessons learned...
1. I read it was good to do on one web site, but if it's a two color string, don't twist it before closing the loops. It doesn't look pretty. Just close the loops, then twist. I did fix the problem though.
2. Don't use scissors as a marlinspike to pull serving thread through itself. When the thread breaks, you'll stab yourself in the bow hand
Happened on the last one too.
The string looks great. 12 strand BCY B500 Dacron. .400 nylon braid end loop serving, and .021 BCY Halo center serving.
I'm using CX nocks, and the .021 center serving was WAY too tight of a nock fit, even with the serving jig set pretty tight and using only a 12 strand string. I'm debating sanding the nocks for proper fit, or just going to buy some thinner Halo. What say yall?
