    String Jive not Jump

First trad hunt. First doe out. First miss. Had a little doe feeding contently for 40 minutes. Took my time, drew, anchor, and good release. She was 2 yards in the opposite direction when my arrow hit the ground. She did not jump she juked, jived, and twisted. This is going to be a big learning curve.

How far was the shot? How quiet/ loud is your bow?

12 yards. Bow is braced and dampened correctly. No wind.

That's pretty discouraging. Not the norm in my experience.

Fred Eichler's article in the current TradBowMag made feel better yesterday. Also reading on average a miss every four pages in The Adventures of Fred Bear.

Killed one last night at about 13 yards. Did not see her move but arrows entrance and exit showed that she did.
