Rick there is a build along on Stickbow.com Leatherwall on selfbow section. I left the sap wood on and only peeled the bark off. Built more like a hickory bow. Yes this one liked heat. At about 15% moisture I took every thing out I did not like. started tillering at 9%. We have had some real dry days latly so I dont know what I sealed it at. I am guessing around 7%. 69" NTN. Dont let it set with the bark on the worms love persimmon.

Does she shoot as well as she looks? How does the Persimmon age, does it get darker?

I just got some great bamboo shafts from eBay for my selfbow. I'm going to make some arrows out of the turkey feathers that I shot this year
Well Ben it shoots pretty good not a lot of shock and decent cast but I am not convenced it is good as osage quite yet. We will see. And you get those bamboo arrows straight and find you about 4 out of a dozen that really shoots good and you will love them I promise.

Thanks Arvin for info. I need to dry mine out. Do you think I can use a heat box? Also do I leave the bark on to dry it out in the heat box?

Rick I pealed ,split and let it dry since the lonbbow shoot. I would have patience since the wood is fairly rare.

Well two maybe three is all the staves I have. The other log was not pealed due to my lazyness and filled up with the worms. I could have probably got three more in billet bows for sure. Oh well spank me but make me like it. What is your draw length?
