I switched from a Glove to a Tab and it really improved things

For the past several months I've felt like my fingers were'nt releasing off the string in an even manner. I've never liked the feel of shooting with a tab but made myself try it for a week. I'll never go back to a glove! The release is much more even and smooth and my groupings really seem to have improved.

Just thought I'd share that experience for those that wonder about it.
I also notice where most all the Olympic shooters use tabs as well.

    Good Shootin!

Me too. I like being able to feel the corner of my mouth better.

      Thanks for sharing,

Hereford when you anchor, which fingert tip do you place in the corner of your mouth? and Do you touch the end of your feather with your nose tip as well?

For some reason, my anchor point has always been a little higher than most other people. I've never had lessons. My ring finger on my right hand usually goes in the corner of my mouth. I don't notice the fletching touching my nose. Just my style I guess.

Thanks for the post. I've only shot a tab once. Felt so different I quite. You may have motivated me to try again. Durk.

I shot a glove for years, the tab just felt wierd and I couldn't get used to it. I decided to try again a couple of years ago and I won't go back to the glove.

Shot a glove for a couple of years. Then tried a tab. It's all I shoot with. I can feel the string and my anchor better with the tab. Most tabs I have bought have a seperate layer or two behind the hair layer. I take all those off. I like the feel of just one layer.

All the really good shooters (Olympians, etc.) all shoot a tab. There must be a reason for that?

When using a tab is it normal to develop a callous on your middle finger? When I started using a tab my grouping did improve and I am now a full time tab user. However, sometimes my middle finger even starts to bleed a little, not always but at times. I just ignore it. Does this suggest I am plucking the string upon release or doing something else wrong?

I've tried switching to a tab a few times but I apparently anchor differently with it because the string just about rips my lips off. I've read lots of testimonials by those who say their shooting has improved with a tab so I am going to try it again. I'll wait until after deer season and really put the time in to get used to it.

It takes a while to get used to.

Bleeding fingers means too short a tab and ripping lips off, well that ain't the string hitting them, but the tab. Might want to try shortening it.

I am a glove user because of the simplicity. Put it on and it stays there.
