    Pop-up Blind Question

Ok everyone I need some suggestions. How long in advance should I set up my pop-up before hunting a spot? I got access to a new small piece of property a few weeks ago and set up a feeder smack dab in the middle of it. I set up a treestand about 150 yards away down a trail. I'm considering setting up my Double Bull by the feeder because its all cedars and nowhere for another stand. I don't want to set it up for too long because I don't want the cows to jack with it, but I also don't want it to spook the deer. Normally I would just sit back in the cedars without a blind but figured since I've got it I should use it. Thanks in advance for your input. Jeff

I set up a new blind and feeder this year and I had deer on camera the same day.

I set up and hunted on the same day and had 4-5 deer there that evening and no issues with them being skittish, just brush her I'm good and you'll be good to go

If you brush it in really good, you could hunt it the same day. It really depends on how spooky the deer are in your area. In my part of E. TX I like to have them up a few weeks at least, but the deer there are always spooky.

Brush it in good, be as scent free as possible, hunt the same day.

That's good to hear. I've deer hunted out of a couple on COE land the same day as setting up but not much experience out of them besides a few turkeys and hogs. I really appreciate the input. I'm kind of a scent control fanatic so I thought the pop up would be best for this particular situation.

I hand corned a spot last year that looked good and threw up a pop up around noon. I went and sat in it that afternoon around four o clock and I had five does come in to my hand corn. I just covered the corners with some cedar to break it up some.

As the other have said, if you brush it in good you can have deer there the same day. However, if you cut the brush from the immediate area, or you leave a ton of scent while putting it up and brushing it in....that can be a problem.

It also depends on the deer in the area as Bountyhunter said. Go put one up at First Point and see how it works out for you. If the deer have seen them and been hunted out of them, they will be much more wary.

                        Good luck

Usually hunt able first few day or two after setup then they get wise to it and give it a couple of weeks

Here is one I setup last week that I haven't hunted yet. It should be ready to hunt on my next trip up in a few weeks.

I have not had luck hunting the same day as the set up. Maybe the deer are a little to spooky. I have had success by setting my pop up in the evening and putting corn close to it. The deer come in the dark when they more relaxed, eat the corn & check out the blind. This works well where you don't have a lot of cover for brushing in.
