I'm seriously considering building a composite bow. I am wondering if you guys that have them would wanna post pics of your bow to help out a newbie figure out what kind he wants to build
Are you wanting to build from scratch or go with a kit bow?
I've been kicking around the idea of picking up one of the kits on the Pine Hollow website. Seems to be put together well and the price is right if that's what you're looking for.
We sell composit bow blanks that really shoot well. PM me if you are interested. They have a really high reflex deflex design and shoot fast as most glass bows. We sell the raw bland or floor tillered and the sight window cut in.

I'm thinking that is how I wanna start. And I also want to build
From scratch
I'm kind of in the same boat. He has several models that have already been floor tillered, all you'd have to do is the final tillering and finish the grip. I really like the bamboo backed osage kit, but I don't know if it's designed to have a shelf cut into it or not and I don't think I'm ready to start shooting off the knuckle just yet!

I don't usually build shelves into bows I make, instead glue a few strips of leather together, then shape and attach as the arrow shelf. After putting a handle wrap on it, it looks just as good and is just as functional. I've also done shelves made from a different wood, such as whatever I use on the tips. But leather is quicker and easier to make uniform. Just a thought.
Dang Bisch sorry to hear that! Urs was a beauty! Just have a weak spot in it or what?
All wood bows just do that sometimes. It sux, but it is how it is. If you are gonna play with selfbows/composite bows, you are eventually gonna have one or two break on you.

That's what I have heard. Guess there is nothing I can do but dive in and hope I'm lucky lol
Someone give me a little lesson here. When you guys talk about composite on this site you're referring to a backed bow, like with bamboo or hickory, and not composites that I tend to think about like fiberglass or laminates? I was just told about the TBoT and saw they classify composites as wood backed as well. I'm just trying to get an understanding because I've always known them from other groups I associate with as backed bows, selfbows, then composites/laminates. Where do you guys include sinew and rawhide backed bows in that classification? Don't mean to highjack the thread, just a quick clarification.
