They are not for everyone that's for sure , I love em just shoot a good heavy arrow and you will be fine. But again I like old school bows and am more into it for hunting at close range and not the target and 3D stuff.im sure I would get my rear handed to me on a 3D range , but then again I don't care about that. In the woods on game I have no prob , like I say it is what you want out of it.

For me at 5'10" and a 26" to 27" draw length...I prefer a 66" AMO length. I've owned 62", 64", and 68" as well, but prefer 66" for me. I do not own a HH currently, but have gone through quite a few of them and will surely own one again....tis the nature of trade-itus
LOL!! My favorite to date was a sweet Halfbreed by Howard Hill Archery.
Even though you were "banned" from TG...you can still view the extensive Howard Hill thread on the PowWow Forum. Like Sam said...there is a lot of experience there for someone wanting it. Master archer, hunter, and legend Ron LaClair among others contributes there. You could also call the folks at Howard Hill Archery. Craig and Jason are very helpful and knowledgeable. Jason is a life long bowhunter and has probably more experience under his belt than most hunters...gun or bow. 406-363-1359 He also makes excellent arrows!
You will and have heard of the "hand shock" associated with Howard Hill style bows. This is not really an issue if you will spend a little time adjusting brace height and shoot an appropriate weight arrow. Your reward will be a light "bump". Most Hill enthusiasts find the "bump" reassuringIn my opinion, Hill style bows take more time to become proficient with; but like most of the things associated with "traditional" archery, "Hill Style" offers great satisfaction once learned.
You are right they look cool and are cool!!!!Last edited by kestimator; 08-08-2012, 08:57 AM.

I love them. I have a martin ML14 that I shoot a lot. I keep thinking I am
gonna build a form and build one. I've made a few laminated bows, but not
a HH style. I shoot my old martin about as well as I shoot anything else,
which is not saying much, so I don't think the HH bows are any harder to
shoot. May have to pay more attention to spine since they are not as
near center shot.

People either lovem or hatem. I however both love and hatem. The hand shock issue is trying to shoot a 8 GPP or lower arrow or trying to shootem with a recurve grip. I tried shooting mine once with a high wrist and my teeth did actually hurt. They can be pickey about hand pressure as you can change the way the limbs are timed. Every traditional shooter needs to spend a little time with a Hill and a Bear.
