Riser materials

I have been wondering for a while, do the different types of wood for the riser make a difference on how the bow performs or is it personal preference or both?? Trent

I'm not aware of any performance changes. Its pretty much cosmetic. I could see a benefit to more rigid material maybe.

Mostly personal preference. A heavier denser wood will add some weight to the bow which can help with shooting characteristics. In some of the smaller longbow risers, some woods will be more rigid which could have a very slight effect on performance. I say go for the wood that appeals to you. In one piece longbows I like cocobolo. In takedowns I like bacote.
