5 months in and I did it!!!

Well, I finally made the full conversion! I sold my compound yesterday without hesitation. No turning back now, nothing but 100% commitment. I have really enjoyed traditional archery. It has been a blast to say the least! It has brought me and my wife closer together as well as my father and I have gotten my brother interested in it. I find myself re-learning to hunt by getting as close to wildlife as possible to ready myself for my first trad hunt. I spend more time outside with my family shooting and just running around and less time in front of the computer and television which is great. Thanks everyone for all the advice and tips you provide to all the newbies!

Enjoy life and have fun to the fullest!!!

    Good for you Brother!!!

I have always been consumed with archery but the traditional side is like a drug, it seems that we can't get enough, LOL.

You need to make a road trip with the family and make some shoots. I guarantee that you will meet some fine folks and have a ball at the shoot

        Lorenzo,

It was not a conversion but a digression.. Going back to a simpler and less stressful aspect of archery! You no longer need to keep up with the latest and greatest gadget and hype that goes along with it! After so long for me - I still just love to shoot!

My Mathews is looking increasingly forlorn hanging there on the rack. I have not shot it since I made the switch to trad 1 1/2 years ago. My son shot it for a while but he has now switched to a recurve as well, so the dust continues to collect on the ol' compound.

Congrats! I'm putting more effort into trad every day but I still hang on to my wheelie bow.

I lived in North Iowa for 5 1/2 years, and enjoyed the long bow seasons they had up there. I was president of our local archery club, and did 99.9% of my shooting (indoor, 3D, fun shoots, etc) with one of my 3 recurves. Heck, I even shot trad in the Iowa Pro-Am and got 2nd place with my Hoyt recurve. But, when I would bowhunt, I would shoot my Z7. When we moved back to Texas last spring, I kicked around selling my compound, and finally that summer did. I havent regretted it a bit.

That is my intention for the next 3d season. We're saving and I can't wait!
