That was my very first store bought bow. I think I paid around $40 for it in 1968 at Bellows Archery in Dallas.

          Wing rwh

hey guys i live in virginia but i found this site, room or what ever it is by accident. ny uncle got a brand new target recurve at a flea market for $8, so i looked it up for him and it goes for about $130 - $160. then i got the idea to try to find out something about my bow. i bought a wing archery red wing hunter 58" , 52# , RA13370. I found this place and read all of it pertaining to my bow. i've had it for at least 16 years now. early on my brothers and i really just abused it the way we shot every day. well after finding out what i have then finding that the bass pro shops here or anywhere else does a whole lot or recurve stuff at all, i would like to ask some questions... 1) going by the SN# what year was it made? i've gotten 3 different strings from 3 different people that are said to be in the know. 2) what kind of string should i use? no one around here sell string silencers for anything but compounds, 3) what is the best string silencer? 4) is it worth using anymore since about 75% of the varnish is cracking. It seems that i've been doing it wrong all this time.
          thanks for your time

Marv, that old bow is extremely volatile and might blow up any time. Just put it in a box with some bubble wrap and ship it to me so it can be properly disposed of. I'm an expert in dangerous archery ordinance disposal.

is it common to shoot off the shelf or an arrow rest with a recurve?

I have a buddy that shoots one those Wing bows everyday. It's a nice old bow.

Looks just like my Wing I bought in '68. But seems like it was a 49#.
Wish I still had it but when things got tough, things got sold.
