    Question for the Trad experts

I bought this recurve a few years ago and was wondering how it rates among starter recurves? It's a Samick Equis. I shoot occasionally but want to get more serious. The arrows I use with it are Beman Classic 500's with a 125 grain field point. Is there anything I can change to improve my accuracy aside from more practice?

I'm no expert but will throw out a little info:

That bow is a fine starter bow. It is a low-end production bow and nothing special, but definitely a good starter bow. The only knock I would have for this bow would be the length. I did some looking around and all I could find was 56" Equus bows. If this bow is 56" then I would say it might be a little short for a starter bow. If someone was asking me what they should start with I would recommend a bow no less than 60" (and maybe longer depending on the shooters draw length).

Practicing good form is the only way to get better with a trad bow. Just practicing won't do it........you must practice good form and develop a repeatable shot sequence. Also, a well tuned arrow is a must. You need to get with an experienced trad guy around you who can help make sure your arrows are right.

One thing I did notice though was that someone messed up when they built that bow and cut the shelf on the wrong side of the riser!!! (lefty joke)

    Good luck with it.

Thank you Bisch! That's the kind of input I was looking for. I have not measured the bow but I think your right about the length. I will look at it again tonite.
