Marty (Buff) Thomas
Started bow hunting with a Wing recurve at the age of 10.
I would spend all day chasing a swamp rabbit. I would shoot at it and then spend how ever long it took to find my arrow, go find the rabbit again and shoot at him some more. I almost always got my rabbit sometimes fairly quickly, sometimes most all day but sooner or later I would get him.
We didn't have any deer to speak of when I was growing up and I don't recall hunting them until I was 16 and could drive up to Marion county and hunt paper company land.
I was 18 or 19 before I finally killed my first deer. It was a 3 point and I was peacock proud of it. Wore all the hair off of one side dragging it in and out of the truck showing it to folks.
I grew up reading Outdoor life and sports afield magazines my mother bought at garage sales and fell asleep most every night dreaming of far away lands and exotic animals.
More later
Matt Knapper just shot a Axis .... Got to go put Bagley to work

Now days... I'm very fortunate to be able to hunt all over the world.
I sell mining equipment so I spend a lot of time in really cool places.
That has given me the chance to live out some truly dream hunts.
I don't much believe in luck so I spend countless hours fussing over my equipment and try to shoot my bow most every day.
In my early 20s I shot everyday and killed several deer ( there were pigs running around back then )
But I just couldn't get it. I was about as likely to miss as hit. Then one day when I was about 50 it just kinda clicked. I'm not sure how to explain it but for some reason I could see the arrow and it would go right where it was supposed to. Now, I expect to kill everything I shoot at. I wish I under stood it and could teach it to every young hunter but it just kinda happened.
I have not really shot any bows other than Black Widow since around 1978 so trying to kill something with this light weight long bow should prove to be a challenge
Love

Well..... I sat out this evening hoping to kill a hog.
A really nice Black buck came in and hung around, too long.
Did I ever tell you I never had shot a Black buck?
Showing all the restraint of a puppy I whacked him with this loner bow hard quarter away.
Didn't get near the penetration I expect from my 74 but think it will be enough
