Which ever one feels better in your hand is better for you. No one can answer that but you. You need to go to a few 3D shoots in your area and meet some of the trad guys and fling a few arrows to figure out which you like the best. Where are you located. There are some good shoots coming up and you should attend one just to meet some folks and get to try a few bows out.

I would get a takedown recurve around 40lbs to have a really light draw weight to work on your form. After you get your form down you can get new limbs to move up in weight. You really need to find a shop or 3d shoot you can go to and get the basics figured out or it will get frustrating really quick.

Recurve or longbow, it's all subjective and based on personal preference. If you get addicted to trad shooting like some of the rest of us, you'll soon find yourself with both!
Like Felix40 said, start out with a very light draw weight. It's not that beginners are necessarily too weak to draw a heavy bow, it's just that it's much easier to learn proper form with a light draw weight than a heavy one. With trad shooting, proper form is very important, and starting with a heavy draw weight can lead to bad form habits which will be harder to correct later on. Also, a lighter draw weight will allow you to shoot more during a session before fatigue sets in, and once fatigue sets in, your form begins to suffer, and when your form suffers, you can develop bad form habits.
