    pointweight

    I need your help please

I shoot 175 grain fieldpoints now with 4x4" fletch. Arrows fly like darts, just perfect, also with 180Grain broadheads.

Now im wondering if it would make a big difference in arrowflight when i switch to 200 grain points, will these 20grain more will make a noticeable difference in arrowflight (dynamic spine). What do yall think?

I know the easiest way would be to try it out but i dont have 200grain point and dont want to order some overseas.. im just wondering...

    Thanks Daniel

I believe so..... I can see 20 grs difference,,,, it's gonna depend on how close your setup is now to perfect or wether you already on the soft side or stiff side

Depends on the bow, my bows that are cut to center are more receptive to shooting a wide variety of tip weight. I can get 125-175 tips to tune equally well with my Superstition, not the case on my longbow with a narrow shelf.

Weigh 20 grains of tape and stick it to the 175 and shoot it. Ive done this to test weight on woodies , good enough to see any major change

Yeah, but 20 grains is a 1/3 of your total arrow weight...

What bow and shaft are you shooting? As previously mentioned, the more center cut your bow is the more forgiving it will be in changes to arrow spines it will shoot. Also carbon shafts tend to be more forgiving than wood shafts.

As stated above 20gr can make a difference. I would recommend the tape method to try different weights.

                    hahaha lol good one!

I shoot a Blueridge sr 50@28 pulling 29... 400 easton axis shaftes with 255 grain up front with the 180 points.
The shafts are tuned perfectly; shot bulletholes while papertuning on different distances

The idea with 20 grain tape is good! Will try it out as soon as possible!

                    Thanks!

Is it better for your arrows to be a little stiff or a little weak?

An arrow that is slightly weak will be more forgiving than anything on the stiff side

Yep a little weak is better.

You might be able to get a way with 20g, but if you are perfectly tuned and they fly like darts, why fix what isn't broken?

                              Hi Daniel,

let me know your address and I will send you some 200 gr and 250 gr fieldpoints so you can try.
Do you need a 200 gr broadhead as well ??

Just let me know and I will send them to you.

                              Happy Trails

                              Daniel
