i'm thinking of making a my own bow. is there a decent book on bow building that i can use for step-by-step directions ? how about arrow making also ?

My buddy builds his own bows and thats what he used to get started. He makes some dang fine pieces.

If you want to start out with a stave and finish it yourself check out rudderbows archery. they have some finished bows as well at bargain prices.

Another really good option is to go to 3rivers archery and get Gary Davis's rattlestick DVD. Really good and informative and he sells some really great Osage bow blanks.
