am i shooting enough arrow weight?

finally have my bear kodiak magnum shooting great, it is 55# @ 28 my draw lenght is around 26-27 i adjusted brace height from just under 7 to 8 1/8 and nock point height to 1/2 this bow is shooting better then ever I am shooting 30 inch carbon express heritage 250 which weigh 452 grains with a 125 grain point, i strictly gap shoot and the long arrow helps me with gapping, I understand as a rule of the thumb you should shoot around 10 grains per pound this bow is shooting great and im afraid of putting brass inserts will weaken my spine, also im a left handed shooter. i feel i have enough arrow weight for texas whiteail i also have shot hogs with this bow, i used to use a 29 inch 2018 with 125 grain point but the bow shoots alot better now with these cabon heritage arrows since ive learned to tune the bow, will i be ok with a arrow that weighs 452 g?

Is the 452 grains before or after the points are installed? With your draw length you are getting about 48-52 pounds out of the bow, so a total weight of 452 would get you close and if they are shooting good, I wouldn't change anything.

452 should put you right around 9gpp. That will work just fine. If your draw lenght is 26"-27" that would make you actual draw weight about 49-52 pounds. You will be just fine with that set-up.

yes 452 is after 125 grain point/broadhead is installed thank you men i was hoping that would be fine, alot of my buddies feel you need the absolutely the heaviest arrow possible, not against going that route if i need to but the bow sure is shooting great right now

More weight will always equal more penetration if the arrow is well tuned. That is the key. I would much rather shoot a well tuned 9gpp arrow than a not-so-well or badly tuned 11gpp arrow any day. Bad tuning is probably the biggest penetration robber there is.

                4" is a start - with your 8 1/8" brace i would say 4 1/4" - 4 1/2" shorter would be better.

True. But I'd rather shoot a well tuned 11-12 GPP arrow than a well tuned 9 GPP arrow.

so i assume i should throw some brass inserts in and see how it flies? the 100 grain would bring it up to 552 give or take that would put me at 11 gpp, that being said, how will this affect my spine? these are carbon express 250 which is around a 400 spine i had them cut to 30 inches as i like a long arrow since I strictly gap

I have gotten hog kills with this bow, but i didnt know much about tuning other then setting nock point height i can tell you by adjusting brace height alone it has made a world of difference in this bow, ive got 14 kills on it but it is shooting way better now then it ever has i forgot to add my self imposed limit on game with recurve is 15 yards i feel comfortable and favorable to make that shot in that range

Unless you are prepared to cut those arrows an inch or more shorter then you should just leave them be as adding a 100 grains will definitely weaken the spine reaction.

I shoot 8.6 to 9.3 GPI on all my setups. Has worked for me for many, many years and far too many large animals taken to make me want to change!

Not a pro at this but couldnt he put weed eater string in the shaft and not effect the arrow spine?
