Years ago the left helical feathers were better due to the farmers would clip the right wings of turkeys to keep them from flying so you could not find right wing feathers that were good conditions...now it doesn't matter you can find both very easily....what I look for is the bases of the feather and the feel (or thickness of the feather)...I want a good full base, (not one that tapers or gets smaller down the length of the feather, this is called a back feather)...I also feel the thickness of the feather and "grade" the feather...some will be thinner, some thicker...Separate them and keep them apart or separated.... Use the same grade of feather on each arrow (or all of your arrows for more consistent shooting)...I would rather use a thinner feather as it will not fold over and break as easily as a thick feather....I have tried shooting left wing and right wing feathers and have not noticed much difference, I may have to tune the bow different between shooting left vs right...being left handed I have stuck with left wing due to the better quanities that I could find in the past...

diamondrules- the left wing feathers will result in your arrows spinning counterclockwise and the right wing feathers will result in your arrows spinning clockwise. I've fletched arrows both ways with no noticeable difference (although I sometimes find I get better flight when shooting some of my arrows with the cock feather in). As mentioned above though, your fletching jig would be either a right wing or left wing jig, so you must match the arrows to the jig you have.
